The licensing process begins by contacting BCYS at 773.487.8644. Prospective foster parents are then invited to an information meeting where they can learn more about foster parenting. If they meet the requirements and wish to proceed, they participate in a 10-week pre-service training course, and a licensing representative assesses the strengths and qualifications of the applicant.

Children are matched with foster homes based on the individual needs of the child and the interests and circumstances of the foster parents.
Foster children range in age from infants to teens. Since the goal is to keep brothers and sisters together, homes that will accept sibling groups are in great demand. There is also always a great need for foster homes for adolescents and teens.
